The NorthWest HazMat Tank Truck Rollover Simulator
This video demo shows how the Tank Truck Rollover Simulator is used to keep your team at the ready for a tank truck emergency.
The systems installed on the 140 gallon diesel fuel tank are the same systems found on a full size, 306/406 type tank truck. There are three fixtures on the top: a three inch clean out, a dome lid, and the vapor recovery fixture.
The three inch clean out has a cap on it and is designed to practice with a Betts emergency offloading valve. This cleanout is the same found on a 307/407 type chemical tanker.
The dome lid, found on gasoline tank trucks, has been designed to leak when the tank is rotated.
The vapor recovery fixture is also designed to leak, so the responder will get the feeling of product being dumped on their feet if they don't control the situation.
There is also an actual manual emergency lever on the side that closes all the valves on the vehicle.
The bottom of the simulator has actual working valves and the vapor recovery line. These valves both work, and the actual systems that are installed on a tank truck are on this unit.
Part of the training requires a trainee to drill into the tank. For that purpose, a special fixture has been added that secures 5" replaceable aluminum discs onto the side of the tank. This is the only fixture on the tank that is not found on an actual tank truck.
